LIBAC Joins the Fight to End Femicide in Kenya
During the 2024 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, LIBAC-Kenya stood in solidarity with women in Kajiado to raise awareness and take a stand against femicide. As the community
Welcome to Liberty in Action Kenya (Libac-Kenya)- where change begins, potential thrives, and diversity shapes a brighter tomorrow.
Become part of a movement dedicated to building communities where dignity, respect, and opportunity thrive. At LIBAC-Kenya, we’re not just shifting perspectives; we’re transforming lives.
Liberty In Action Kenya (LIBAC-Kenya) is a women-led, rights-based organization advancing social inclusion by addressing harmful social norms through four core thematic areas: Gender Justice and Child Protection, Youth Leadership, Climate Action and Social Accountability with a focus on marginalized communities. Rooted in community structures and led by individuals with lived experience, LIBAC is committed to translating grassroots voices into meaningful, lasting change. LIBAC leverages trusted community platforms and volunteer-led initiatives to sustain grassroots engagement and ensure its interventions are locally driven and accessible.
We adopt a survivor-centred and trauma-informed approach, ensuring that our programs are grounded in empathy, individualized care, and the dignity of every person. LIBAC’s founders and leadership bring over a decade of collective experience in community development, with strong technical expertise in social norms change programming, gender-based violence prevention and response, civic education, youth inclusion, and policy advocacy. Our approach is participatory, inclusive, and anchored in intersectional feminism and social justice, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of equity and transformation.
LIBAC-Kenya delivers all its programs through the Community-Based Protection and Empowerment Approach (CBPEA), a participatory, inclusive, and survivor-centred model that empowers communities to lead their own transformation.
CBPEA is built on five ethical principles: it is survivor-centred, trauma-informed, rights-based, feminist and inclusive, and committed to do no harm. Originally developed by UNHCR and adopted by organizations such as CARE and IRC, the approach ensures community members are not passive recipients, but co-creators of long-term solutions. We have localized this model to reflect Kenya’s social realities and resilience.

Your contribution ensures LIBAC’s impact endures, fostering community-led solutions for lasting change.
Gender Justice: 41% of Kenyan women experience GBV, with rates rising to 55% among married women (KDHS 2022). FGM affects 21% of women aged 15–49, stressing the need for targeted advocacy and education.
Youth Empowerment: Youth unemployment stands at 40% among 15-24-year-olds, fueling disenfranchisement (KNBS, World Bank). Only 24% of youth complete secondary education, hindering leadership potential (KDHS 2022).
Reduction in food production: Climate change may reduce Kenya’s crop yields by 10-20% by 2050, risking food security (UNEP, IPCC). Additionally, 42% of Kenyans lack access to clean water, highlighting a need for sustainable solutions (UNICEF).
Teenage pregnancy affects 14.4% of girls, emphasizing the importance of educational and health services (UNFPA). Only 49% of women without education complete the recommended prenatal visits, impacting maternal health (KDHS 2022).
These statistics underscore the critical areas of intervention for LIBAC, emphasizing the need for targeted support and advocacy to drive meaningful change in these thematic areas. Your involvement can help us extend our reach and effectiveness, making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, we can transform societal norms, uplift communities, and promote social justice across Africa.
