How We Work
We work through a Community-Based Protection and Empowerment Approach (CBPEA), partnering with communities to understand local realities, identify priorities, and drive community-led action that reflects the needs and experiences of AGYW and young people. Through participatory and social norms change approaches including the Gender Action Learning System (GALS), Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), community dialogue, theatre for social change, safe spaces, and peer-led engagement, we support young people to strengthen agency, build confidence, and actively shape change within their communities.
Our work operates across three interconnected levels:
Individual level: Safe spaces, mentorship, life skills, and learning opportunities that build knowledge, confidence, resilience, and decision-making
Community level: Dialogue, engagement, and collective action that challenge harmful social norms and promote supportive environments
Systems level: Linkages to services, advocacy, partnerships, and youth participation in decision-making and accountability spaces
Across all levels, we promote gender equity by creating opportunities for AGYW and young people to exercise voice, leadership, participation, and agency in shaping their lives and futures.
