Gender-Responsive Climate and Environmental Action

Climate-related challenges such as drought, environmental degradation, water scarcity, and food insecurity continue to affect communities unevenly, often deepening existing gender inequalities and disproportionately impacting AGYW and young people.

Limited access to resources, unequal participation in decision-making, and existing social and economic vulnerabilities can reduce the ability of girls and young women to respond and adapt effectively to environmental and climate-related challenges. These realities not only affect livelihoods and well-being but also influence safety, education, health, and long-term resilience.

LIBAC-Kenya promotes youth-led and gender-responsive climate and environmental action that strengthens resilience, supports sustainable livelihoods, and encourages inclusive community participation in climate responses. Through participatory and community-driven approaches including peer-led engagement, community dialogue, safe spaces, and climate awareness activities, we support AGYW and young people to actively contribute to environmental stewardship and locally driven climate solutions.

Climate-related challenges are already being addressed through youth-led environmental engagement including tree planting, climate justice training, environmental restoration, and community awareness initiatives. These efforts not only promote sustainability and resilience but also position AGYW and young people as active contributors to environmental action and community-led climate solutions.
